Autumn in Maine
by Greg Linscott
I thought I would share with you a little bit of the beauty we are surrounded by this time of year in Maine…

This photo was taken from a helicopter over the woods of Northern Maine by my friend and fellow church member Steve Day.

These two were taken last fall in Baxter State Park.
Steve has been a forest ranger here for well over 30 years. He has a wonderful eye and appreciation for the beauty of the Maine woods.
Wow! Beats our concrete jungle by a long shot!
What a glorious world! I have never traveled anywhere that Ps 19.1 did not speak, even the deserts of nevada. But I would have to say I prefer the growing things to the rocks and cacti.
Out our way, we are having an unusually long and dry fall, so we are having more of a ‘leaf turning’ season than usual. Usually they blow off pretty quick, but so far not. We are supposed to get some rains tomorrow night though, so all this could change in a hurry.

As I look at nature, and marvel at God’s handywork, with the breathtaking beauty seen in these wonderful photos, I am reminded that this “beauty” is actually the scars of man’s sin. Those hills, valleys, and rivers that cut through are because of the flood.
I am looking forward to SPRING! π
You’re such a killjoy, Doug…
But I guess I would be to, if I lived in Ohio…
I am celebrating so much today because of this new Dell notebook I am using. So I thought I would come over for the first time and visit the chief forum director of the internet world. Wow, the beauty of Maine is glorious. And the moose reminds me of home.
I have a friend who lives in Maine! He loves his state as much as I love mine.
I’m not sure you are aware of this information, but I grew up in NE Ohio (where Chris Anderson and Andy Rupert live). That is the area where Lake Erie has a tendancy to dump a ton of snow on those Eastern counties (“snow belt”). So, knowing all of the snow I have seen in my lifetime (and I have seen a LOT of it), I get weary of winter, though there is nothing more fun than to cuddle with my wife on the couch, with a cup of hot cocoa on my coffee table! π
BTW, even though these are the scars of man’s sin, God’s Creation is STILL a marvelous Creation. Who would not want to get up in the morning to view such wonders as God’s Handywork?
Doug,
Spring remedies the snow…
But how do you deal with Rupert and Anderson? π
I actually have no answer for THOSE problems! π¦
