This past May (as I noted), Skowhegan made national headlines.
Well, here we are again.
As I was driving on my route this morning, I was listening to the local talk radio station. I was SHOCKED when I heard Skowhegan, ME had an acid bomb explode in a Wal-Mart. Wow! I immediately thought about how I know (through this, and other blogs) you, and your family living in that town. I also heard about other Wal-Marts having bomb threats in other small towns throughout the US. I hope know one you know was in the store at that time.
“I hope NO ONE” not “know one”. I changed thoughts mid-type, and that’s what happened! Sorry!
For those of us who are from small towns and rural areas, we never get to hear our town in the news. I can remember the times Clarksburg, WV (where I grew up) was ever on the news. The first was when an Anchor-Hocking glass factory laid off 900 workers without warning (prompted the Congress to pass the mandatory two weeks law). The second was when Paul Harvey said Clarksburg, WV was the place in the United States where murder was legal (a reference to Mafia warfare). The third time was in high school, when some guy plotted to blow up the brand new FBI fingerprint division (mark of the beast!).
My parents currently live in the DeBarr home country. See
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sago_Mine_disaster for more details.
I’ve lived in larger cities and it just wasn’t that exciting to hear your town’s name in the news.
