On Memorial Day…

by Greg Linscott

This is my grandfather’s grave. My grandpa, Reginald F. Linscott, was a WWII veteran who served in the US Army on the Pacific front. My son bears his name.

My heartfelt gratitude to those whose sons, husbands, and fathers gave their lives on the field of battle so that we might enjoy the liberties we do as citizens of these United States.

Oh beautiful, for heroes proved
In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!
America! America! May God thy gold refine,
‘Til all success be nobleness, and ev’ry gain divine!
