On ‘Smellovision’ and… Preaching(?)

sniffThis caught my eye… (HT: DrudgeReport)

NEW WORLD OF ‘SMELLOVISION’
A Japanese cinema showing THE NEW WORLD will screen the COLIN FARRELL movie in ‘Smellovision’ to enhance the viewing experience. Seven smells will be emitted by machines placed under seats at the back of the theatre, depending on what kind of scene is playing during director TERRENCE MALICK’s film at the time. Love scenes will be accompanied by a floral scent, while a peppermint and rosemary smell will waft through the cinema during emotional sequences.

Nice.

The first thought that popped into my mind- when will the first person try to harness this technology for “preaching”?

Imagine…

A message on “I am the Bread of Life” with bakery scents…

Not sure if we’d want to use the “sheep” scent…

“Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” with authentic fire and brimstone scents being pumped into the auditorium…

Okay, I didn’t say this was a good idea…
